Miscellaneous Stories:
By
Carl Ekdahl, provided December 19, 2005
Three 1-26 Diamond
badges were earned out of Moriarty. Dick Bartsch
and myself in 1980 and Bob Gibson in 1995. I did all three flights
(goal, altitude and distance) out of 0E0 in 038.
Dick and I made our Diamond distance flights on the same day, June 25, 1980;
Dick flyng to just South of Denver in the club 1-26
and I to near Garden City Kansas in 038. My 16 year-old son Kris crewed for
Dick, and Rhonda crewed for me. Rhonda still vividly remembers watching Kris boogy up I-25 after Dick when she and Kris parted company
South of Raton and she headed off to Kansas.
Folks, if you have any
stories for the ASC historical archives, just email them to the webmaster or
post to discussion forum and theyll end up in here. - Brian
