Justin, If you check the websites for Wings and Wheels and Cumulus Soaring you will see various handheld radio choices. Here's a Cumulus URL... http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/radios-handheld.htm and here is a URL for W&W: http://www.wingsandwheels.com/page7.htm ICOM radios are very popular and are reasonably priced. Their newest model is the IC-A14 so it might be a radio you may want to consider. It is $229. on the Cumulus Soaring website! 3R |

I would like to buy a handheld transceiver for use on the ground and as back-up in the air. I don't need anything really fancy (and don't need the NAV functions). I'm relatively new to aviation and am bewildered by available features and models. I'd like to keep the price low. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. --justin |
