2010-02-08 06:23:04 during my training every one of the instructors I had stressed the need to keep your head on a swivel during tow...its far to easy to fall into the habit of focusing on the tail of the tow plane...I have witnessed close calls during my power training and was even in a plane as a passenger once and got the close up view of the belly of a cessna as it veered away while the pilot of the plane I was in never even saw them because he was focused on the panel...in all cases in close proximity to the airport...I suspect these close calls happen much more than we hear about...Thanks Billy for posting this...It made me shiver just to read about this terrible event.
